Westminster Cathedral
The Cathedral is in the City of Westminster which is an Inner London borough that also holds city status. It was purchased by the Diocese of Westminster in 1885, and construction completed in 1903, the consecration ceremony took place on 28 June 1910.
It is the largest Roman Catholic church in England and Wales and the seat of the Archbishop of Westminster. Designed by John Francis Bentley in neo-Byzantine style, and accordingly made almost entirely of brick, without steel reinforcements.
Queen Elizabeth visited the cathedral she attended Choral Vespers, the first participation of the Queen in a Roman Catholic church liturgy in Great Britain.
The Cathedral opens just before the 7am Mass on Monday to Fridays, closing at 7pm. On Saturdays and Sundays, the Cathedral opens at 7:30am. Over the weekend, the Cathedral closes at 8pm. Entry is of course free. There are multiple masses throughout the day including Latin mass.
This cathedral is so beautiful, and the multiple chapels are all magnificent.
